CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Uechi-Ryu Karate
An Okinawan-style created by Kanbun Uechi and developed by his son, Kani, to the system we practice today. Uechi-Ryu was originally called Poon Gai Noon by Master Kambun Uechi. Master Uechi based his karate style on the Kung Fu systems which he had learned in Southern China. When taught properly, Uechi-Ryu incoporates both the hard and soft aspects of our physical abilities.

Authentic Chinese Kung Fu
After our students have proven to be proficient in Uechi-Ryu, they can continue their education in martials arts by moving on to Chinese Kung Fu. They can learn Choy-Li Fut, which is one of the systems taught to the Chinese Army for use in the battlefields. They can choose: Tiger- demonstrates sheer power; White Crane- brings out the smooth flow of motion; Hung Gar- considered the Master's style and contains all the trickery of a skilled fighter with aggressiveness and hidden counter attacks.

Tai Chi - for balance
Achieve balance in mind, body and spirit and improve circulation for a better, healthier you. During these classes students will become more aware of their bodies and learn to harness their "chi", the internal energies. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of dance-exercise that incorporates meditation. It promotes healing and prevents injuries, while increasing your range of motion and breathing. It improves mental focus.

Qi Gong - for energy
Qi Gong (chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese self health care practice that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. "Pain is no gain" in this class. Students will learn posture and engage in the gentle, rhythmic movements and slow, deep abdominal breathing. Qi Gong reduces stress, builds stamina, increases vitality and enhances the immune system. It has also been found to improve the cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions, leaving you more energized throughout your day.

Manadarin & Calligraphy
Fact: Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world.
George Webster, in an article in Language Today, would say the Madarin is the most influential language in the world, with English coming in at 2nd. Surprised? Either way, learning a second language can be both fun and educational. Come and learn this curious dialect from our certified language instructor. During class students will also learn the art of calligraphy. Some would say calligraphy is a pure expression of oneself - Our firm lines, our bold dashes, and our soft checks express who we are. Join this class and learn how you can proudly exhibit your soul to the world.
